Time in a sensory room helps individuals with autism to improve their visual, auditory and tactile processing, as well as fine and gross motor skills. By providing a sense of calm and comfort, sensory rooms help children learn to self-regulate their behaviours, which ultimately improves focus. We are in desperate need for professionals to set up this facility. We would need the following:
Floor mats
Play blocks, wedges and rockers
Spandex hammock
Light blocks and sensory lighting
Outdoor play equipment
Tandem walking poles and stepping stone logs
Object/pretend play items
Basic stationery
Computer
Lockable cupboard for crafts and supplies storage
